Zimbabwean shot dead by Police (PRM) in Mozambique, Manica Province in Báruè

The Police officers of the Republic of
Mozambique (PRM) in Báruè District, Manica Province has killed a Zimbabwean in
Catandica Township, Futuro Melhor Village. The victim, of between 24 to 25
years old, Tawanda Lovemore Chitsike was lining in Catandica for the four passed
years doing piece work jobs. The police spokesman, Januário Banda confirmed the
incident and said that the deceased tried to fight the police on duty and
wanted to grab the machine gun from the police and was carrying a knife.
Catandica Community Radio interviewed the
Community Police who was also on duty at that area of incident. The community
Police denies that the victim was
possessing a knife and that he wanted to
grad the gun from the police. The same member said that the PRM fired two (2)
shots directly to Tawanda Chitsike who was trying to run because of not possessing
the Identity Card. The community police also highlighted that the PRM local do
some illegal charges to those citizens who walks without Identity Cards,
charging money values between twenty to fifty metical (20,00
to 50,00Mtn)
